Title : Sheet plastination method for preparation teaching models by using local polyester resin

Abstract:

At the college of veterinary medicine, University of Basrah ,The Ambition to produced a low cost educational anatomical specimens  using local polyester resin materials that are easy to use and inexpensive that useful for dissection, and reduced the formalin exposure hazard.

Sheet plastination is a preservation technique used in anatomy for displaying and studying anatomical specimens. Plastination itself is a process invented by Dr. Gunther von Hagens in the late 1970s. It involves replacing the fluids and fats in a biological specimen with reactive plastics, which are then hardened. This process results in a durable, dry, odorless specimen that can be touched, dissected, and displayed without the need for preservation fluids.

In sheet plastination, thin slices of tissue, typically less than a millimeter thick, are created and then plastinated. These slices can be arranged in various configurations, often on transparent sheets, allowing for detailed study of anatomical structures. Sheet plastination is particularly useful for creating educational displays, as it allows for the visualization of complex anatomical structures in a clear and accessible manner.

In order to confrontation these problems, a new soft plastination method was modified to obtained a flexible , clean, curable ,odorless ,portable and non-toxic ,it can be keeps for long durations without any changes.

The advantages of this process  manage at room temperatures by local inexpensive materials ,and its can be accomplished with little experience

In cooperation with silicon plastination method.students conceived to use of soft Plastination specimens in the dissection room to be helpful to anatomical education and it's a good and enjoyable method improved to understanding the anatomy, biology, embryology and their related sciences.

This technique is commonly used in medical schools, museums, and anatomy exhibitions to provide students and the general public with hands-on learning experiences and a deeper understanding of anatomy. Throughout the entire process, strict adherence to safety protocols and ethical guidelines is crucial,. Additionally, variations in technique and materials may occur depending on the specific requirements of the project and the preferences of the plastination facility.
